The Crane Game
The Mantis embassy in Mura Sabishii Toshi is as close to a little slice of the Islands of Silk and Spice as the clan’s plentiful koku can make it. The embassy grounds have been carefully sculpted to reflect the rugged and uneven ground of the Mantis home provinces. In places, ground level is nearly as high as the 15 foot wall around the embassy and in others it drops a good 10 feet below street level.
Though not nearly as large as the Governor’s Estate, the Mantis embassy is still large enough to have a dedicated building to handle the business of state, a large home for the ambassador and her retinue, and 2 smaller homes for visitors.
Perhaps a quarter of the embassy’s grounds have been turned into a true island paradise. Tons of pure white sand from the Mantis Isles have been imported along with a wide variety of the isles’ flora and fauna. The less hardy plants and animals are known to be replaced almost yearly, as the harsher winters in Mura Sabishii Toshi regrettably kill them. The pride of the embassy is a pair of tame (mostly) tigers from the Ivory Kingdoms. They are kept well-guarded and well-fed and isolated via creative landscaping to 1 corner of the tropical gardens.
